2nd International Bauhaus Award 2002
The occasion
October 26, 2002
On 26th October the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation presented the second International Bauhaus Award, following a competition in which young creative designers and academics, individually or in groups, had taken part.
he focus this time was the influence of information and communications technologies on urban space. The 2nd International Bauhaus Award was offered to projects dealing with the interfaces between human beings and technology, or space and technology, in an urban context, i.e. the complex interconnections between real worlds and virtual worlds. The winners were chosen by an international jury composed of representatives from the various topic areas.
The jury awarded four prizes.
The 1st prize was won by: Rafael Lozano-Hemmer from Spain, for Body Movies, Relational Architecture No.6
The 2nd prize was won by: Steffen P. Walz from Stuttgart, for On the Move between Proximate Distance and Distant Proximity
The 3rd prize was won jointly by: Friedrich von Borries, Gesa Glück and Tobias Neumann, for urban_diary, rude_architecture/urban research experimental design, and Carole Schmit from Brussels, for ReKoGeB in Borderland.
