Bauhaus city

5th December 2009 to 7th March 2010
The exhibition “Bauhaus City“, which will open at the end of the anniversary year on 5th December 2009 in the Bauhaus Dessau, explores the relationship between the School and the city, which resulted in some of the 20th century’s most significant works of art, architecture and design. The exhibition focuses on three periods – key moments in the city’s development, which represent radical departures in Dessau, and in which the Bauhaus played a central role: What visionary plans did the Bauhaus have for the city; which expectations were imposed on the Bauhaus? Finally, how much Bauhaus is there in Dessau? The exhibition responds to such questions, and in doing so aims to contribute to Dessau’s identification as a Bauhaus city.
