Bauhaus Lab 2017
Dialogues on Craft and Design

In 1965 Hans Gugelot (Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG) Ulm) designed an armchair at the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, India: the India Lounge. Under the title "Between Chairs. Dialogues on Craft and Design" the participants of the Bauhaus Labs 2017 set out to explore the dialogue between India and Germany and between two design approaches. What did their research reveal? What did they experience in Ahmedabad and Ulm? And what does the dialouge of1965 tells us about design and society? The film accompanies the participants in their preparations for the final exhibition.
