Dr Claudia Perren leaves the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation. She will com-mence her new position as director of the Academy of Art and Design (HGK FHNW) in Basel on 1 August 2020. "I look back on six very intensive and interesting years. Together we have achieved all the goals we set ourselves for this period at the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation," says Dr Claudia Perren. "Even before the end of my second term, I made a well-considered decision in favour of the new task in Basel, but of course I will always remain closely associated with the Bauhaus Dessau.”

Dr Claudia Perren is Director and CEO of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation since 1 August 2014. Under her leadership, the Bauhaus Dessau has strengthened its international profile, launched new programmes and built up extensive networks, including the Bauhaus Open Studios, the Bauhaus Resi-dency and the participation in the international research and exhibition project Bauhaus Imaginista. At the same time, Claudia Perren was responsible for the construction of the Bauhaus Museum Dessau, which was opened on 8 Sep-tember 2019 just in time for the Bauhaus centenary and with great success in the presence of German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Since then, the museum has welcomed more than 100,000 guests and at the same time has become a new cultural venue for the city of Dessau-Roßlau, which will have a positive long-term impact on the region – especially in connection with the Bauhaus Agents Programme, which is specifically developed for collaborations be-tween local schools and museums. Furthermore, the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site Bauhaus was extended, during Claudia Perren's first term, to include the Houses with Balcony Access in Dessau and the former Trade Union School (ADGB) in Bernau. And finally, as a partner in the Bauhaus Co-operation Berlin Dessau Weimar, she played a major role in shaping the na-tionally celebrated Bauhaus Centenary 2019, which attracted a great deal of media and public attention with over 2,500 events at 900 locations.
