Corona FAQ

What can I visit?
From 12 May 2020, the Bauhaus Museum Dessau, the Bauhaus Building and the Konsum Building in the Dessau-Törten Housing Estate can be visited again.

What rules apply when visiting the Bauhaus Dessau?
Due to the corona pandemic, visitors have to wear a mouth-nose cover when entering the buildings. Excluded are children up to the age of 6 years; deaf and hard of hearing people, their accompanying person and, if necessary, persons who communicate with them; persons for whom the use of a mouth-nose cover is not possible or unreasonable due to a disability, pregnancy or for health reasons. This must be substantiated in an appropriate manner.

All visitors also have to sanitise their hands, maintain a minimum distance of 2 metres and provide their contact details. Furthermore, only a limited number of visitors may enter the buildings at the same time. These measures are part of the prescribed safety and hygiene concept. We ask you to follow the rules, otherwise access cannot be permitted.

Why do I have to provide my contact details?
The contact details of each guest of the Bauhaus Dessau are recorded in order to track possible chains of infection. This is required by the SARS-CoV-2 containment regulation of the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The data will only be stored for this purpose and only as long as necessary.

Where can I buy tickets?
We recommend to buy tickets online to minimise any contact. However, tickets can also be purchased on site. Until 30 June 2020, all visitors will receive reduced entry fees.

What do I need to bring with me?
Please bring your own mouth-nose cover. Apart from that, if possible, bring nothing or only small bags. Unfortunately, the lockers cannot be used.

Why is it not possible to visit the Masters’ Houses?
The Masters’ Houses will remain closed. Due to the narrow rooms, the minimum distance of two metres between visitors cannot be guaranteed. However, it is worth visiting the buildings from the outside.

Why are no guided tours offered?
Guided tours cannot be offered at the moment due to the current contact restrictions. Alternatively, however, the Bauhaus Dessau App, the Discovery Booklets or the DrawingKITs offer interesting possibilities to explore the Bauhaus Dessau.

Can I stay overnight in the Studio Building?
It is currently not possible to stay overnight in the Studio Building, as tourist trips to the state of Saxony-Anhalt are not permitted. For the time being, it is not possible to say when overnight stays will be permitted again.

Can I eat and drink something in the Café in the Bauhaus Museum Dessau, in the Café-Bistro in the Bauhaus Building or in the canteen in the Bauhaus Building Dessau?
The Café in the Bauhaus Museum Dessau offers to-go products from 22 May 2020. The Café-Bistro in the Bauhaus Building opens on 1 June 2020. The canteen in the Bauhaus Building remain closed (as of 26 May 2020).

What do I have to consider when travelling to Dessau-Roßlau?
Different regulations for (tourist) trips apply in each country and in each state of the Federal Republic of Germany. Please inform yourself in time about the regulations that apply to you. You can find up-to-date information on the current rules in the state of Saxony-Anhalt here.

How long will these regulations be in place?
These corona-related regulations will apply until further notice. They are set at the political level by the federal and state governments and will be adapted at different intervals.
