Oskar Schlemmer's "Figural Cabinet", which he developed from 1922 to 1927 and whose figurines are reproduced by Andreas Wohmann on behalf of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation, was his most important product as master of the Bauhaus stage workshop under his direction. In 1926/27, it was intended as a prototype of a stage design that was both formal and performative, but it was hardly ever used and has fallen into oblivion. Now, in the course of its reproduction, it is being rediscovered and, together with the music once composed for it by Gerhard Münch, presented as an exhibition and performance on the Appia stage. Initially, 7 of the 18 reproduced characters will be used at the Bauhaus Festival. The project will be continued in 2022 and further developed in cooperation with the Anhalt Theatre in Dessau.
