Bauhaus Building

The starting point for the Bauhaus Lab 2020 is a block of sul­fur concrete that was used in experimental low­cost housing in 1972. The block is part of the archive of the Minimum Cost Housing Group at the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Mon­ treal. Rallying around the ques­tion “How the other half builds,” the group began to investigate living and building in developing countries at McGill University in Montreal in the 1970s.

This programme spotlights the mechanical stage concepts of Joost Schmidt and Stefan Sebök. Schmidt and Sebök broke with the limited usage of the technical infrastructure of the stage as a mere support to human performers.

Gropius House

In 2021 artists are yet again moving into the Masters’ Houses in Dessau to live and work for three months like the Bauhaus Masters before them. Exhibitions in the Gropius House will deal with the annual theme of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation infrastructure in unique ways.
