5 p.m. – 6.30 p.m.
Bauhaus Dessau
Maker Space, Exhibition, 1st floor
Lecturer: Manuela Fischer
What connects the Bauhaus weaving workshop with the Andes? The craft, the colours, the designs and pictures of the pre-Hispanic textiles are an important source of inspiration for the Bauhaus weavers. On the other hand, the textiles in the Andes continue to be the visible sign of ethnicity.
In this edition Manuela Fischer speaks about the context and the meaning of four pre-Columbian textiles which are displayed in the exhibition Craft becomes modern. The Bauhaus in the making. After the lecture we invite you to discuss with us!
Dr. Manuela Fischer is a custodian of the collection South America of the Ethnological Museum Berlin.
Next talk in the series: Thursday, 19 October 2017
