Jakob Krupp

Double bassist Jakob Krupp is active in classical, new music and jazz. He studied at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts where he played in orchestras such as the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and the Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Mainz. After specializing in contemporary music as a scholarship holder of the International Ensemble Modern Academy, he is an internationally sought-after interpreter of new music both as an ensemble player and as a soloist, contributing to a wide variety of projects with Ensemble Modern or the Ensemble Modern Orchestra. He devoted himself to jazz at an early age, and won several prizes at "Jugend jazzt" – a nationwide music competition – as well as the concert prize of the Jazztage Dresden. As bassist of the Frank Dupree Trio he participated in several CD productions and played numerous concerts, both in jazz and classical music. His cross-genre musical work has taken him to California, Canada and South Africa. He has played in halls such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Berlin Philharmonie or the Vienna Musikverein, at festivals such as the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music, the Berlin Festival or the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival and has been heard in radio and television productions by SWR, WDR and BR.


Tamon Yashima

German-born composer and oboist Tamon Yashima is currently a member of the new music ensemble S201 and Consord. He studied oboe at the Folkwang University of the Arts and at the Hochschule für Musik "Franz Liszt" Weimar. He is currently studying instrumental and electronic composition. In 2019 and 2020 he was a scholarship holder of the International Ensemble Modern Academy. He received his first award at the AVW Piano Composer Cup at the age of seven. This was followed by further prizes and awards, including the German Music Competition for Composition in Bonn, the national competition "Jugend komponiert" of the Jeunesses Musicales, and the Rotary scholarship "composer in residence" of the Orgelwelten Ratingen. His compositions are performed at international festivals worldwide. He has worked with ensembles and musicians such as the Bochum Symphony Orchestra, the International Ensemble Modern Academy and the New Ensemble Hannover.
He is a member of the New Music Ensemble consord and a founding member of Ensemble S201 where he is oboist, EWI player, curator and composer.


Jakob Krupp and Tamon Yashima were nominated by the Ensemble Modern Academy for the Bauhaus Residency Program and will live and work in the Dessau Masters' Houses in February 2022.
