Bauhaus Agents

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Bauhaus in 2019, the Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung in Berlin, the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation and the Klassik Stiftung Weimar were given the opportunity to build new Bauhaus museums. In cooperation with the three Bauhaus institutions, the German Federal Cultural Foundation had launched the multi-year Bauhaus Agents programme with the aim of integrating mediation into the museum concept and exhibition design from the very beginning.

So nine Bauhaus Agents developed innovative and participatory mediation concepts together with pupils, artists and curators, designers and urban researchers as well as many other experts. In this context, the Bauhaus aktiv book, containing creative exercise instructions, was published at the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation. In addition, selected project ideas were transferred to the website bauhaus-machen.de for use in school and non-school contexts.

In the Bauhaus Agents programme and beyond, numerous smaller and larger design exercises, films and audio pieces have been produced that convey the Bauhaus in its various facets, its history and its topicality. The exercises are designed for all target groups in terms of age and previous personal creative knowledge. Their playful, experimental character is intended to encourage people to approach the Bauhaus in a practical way, at their own pace, in their own context and in their own interest, and to become active.
