Marit Wolters

Marit Wolters lives and works in Vienna. Her works, which often involve installations, emerge at the interface of architecture and fine art. In doing so, they combine diverse mediums such as sculpture, photography, or performative aspects. In experimental arrangements, the material itself plays an important role. After studying art history and German in Dresden, Marit Wolters studied fine art at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts and the University of Applied Arts Vienna. The recipient of several awards and scholarships, to date she has exhibited her work in Austria, Germany, Italy, the USA and Egypt.

Marit Wolters is one of the prize-winners of the SYN Award | sms of the SYN Stiftung | Kunst Design Wissenschaft in Halle and therefore the recipient of one of two research residencies at the Bauhaus Dessau. Here, she will contribute her artistic, experimental approaches to the discourse of the exhibition smart materials satellites. Material as Experiment. In doing so, she thematises the acoustic potential of architectonic materials such as aerated concrete and steel and utilises the Steel House designed by Georg Muche and Richard Paulick as a sounding board.
