This year, the Newcastle/Virginia workshops began by investigating methods of ‘reading’ and documenting the signs, symbols and signals of the buildings in which we live, work and study, to illustrate and highlight cultural themes. Over three days this enquiry progressed to an exploration of the boundaries- both physical and intangible, of our habitats, to question how they act to create ‘insiders’, ‘inbetweeners’ and ‘outsiders’.
