Bauhaus Building

In the framework of a one-hour tour of the Bauhaus Building, built in 1926, visitors discover historic spaces that are usually closed to the public. These include the auditorium, the former director’s room and a historic student’s room. Should some areas be inaccessible due to public or other events, we ask for your understanding and will ensure that this is then appropriately recompensed with an alternative route.

Masters’ Houses

The complex of Masters' Houses, built based on plans by Walter Gropius, exemplifies the avant-garde concept of living and epitomises the artists' colony of the 20th century. Walter Gropius, Oskar Schlemmer, Georg Muche, László Moholy-Nagy, Lyonel Feininger, Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee lived with their families in the Masters' Houses. The one-hour guided tour begins in the Visitor Centre in the Bauhaus Building (Gropiusallee 38, 06846 Dessau-Roßlau, Germany).

Fridays 1.30 pm

daily 12.30 and 3.30 pm,
Saturdays and Sundays 1.30 pm

We are pleased to note the great interest in the Bauhaus centenary this year. Because they are under protection as UNESCO monuments, only a limited number of visitors are allowed in the Masters' Houses. This could mean that in exceptional cases during guided tours you will only receive the information, background and stories from outside the houses. Afterwards you will then have all the time you want without a time limit to inspect the houses yourself. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Dessau-Törten Housing Estate

The one-hour tour of the Dessau-Törten Housing Estate begins at the Konsum building (Am Dreieck 1, 06849 Dessau-Roßlau, Germany). The tour continues past diverse housing typologies and enters a show flat in the Houses with balcony access. A particular highlight is the only house on the estate preserved in its original condition, Haus Anton.
