Stay overnight at the Bauhaus – Stay in a World Cultural Heritage Site
A very special kind of Bauhaus experience awaits visitors here: overnight accommodation in the studio building. In the recreated studios, the atmosphere of the Bauhaus remains palpable today. Everything from the floor plan and the materials to replicas of the original furniture has been returned to its original state in meticulous detail. Some rooms evoke their former inhabitants by virtue of the furniture designs: selected rooms are currently dedicated to the Bauhauslers Alfred and Gertrud Arndt, Josef and Anni Albers and Franz Ehrlich.
The studio building completed in 1926 is also known as the Prellerhaus. The name was adopted from the studio building in Weimar and commemorates the court painter Friedrich Preller. A succession of the most renowned figures of the Bauhaus era lived and worked in the 28 studios, each of which measures around 20 m2. These included, among others, Josef Albers, Erich Consemüller, Herbert Bayer, Franz Ehrlich, Walter Peterhans, Hannes Meyer, Joost Schmidt, Marcel Breuer and, on the so-called ladies floor, Gertrud Arndt, Marianne Brandt, Gunta Stölzl and Anni Albers.
A setting of more genuine style for overnight accommodation in Dessau-Roßlau is impossible to find. You can also treat others to an overnight stay in the legendary Bauhaus Building with a gift voucher from the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation, which you can order online.
