UNESCO World Heritage Day 2023:
New Housing Models of the 1920s

// Activity Day + Presentations
3 + 4 June 2023, each 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Steel House
Free admission to the historic Bauhaus buildings on UNESCO World Heritage Day.
In the recently restored Steel House in the Dessau-Törten Housing Estate, architectural models showcase the new forms of housing of the 1920s using architectural models built as tactile models. In the spotlight alongside the experimental Steel House, built in 1926–27 based on plans by Richard Paulick and Georg Muche and originally designed to be extendable, is the Haus am Horn, the prototype house designed in 1923 for the first Bauhaus exhibition in Weimar, now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, precisely 100 years ago, the Bauhauslers showcased their vision of contemporary construction and housing for the very first time.
Employees of the building department will introduce the topic in short presentations on every full and half hour. Both days there will be an English-language presentation at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
