Wed, 18 Nov 2020
Bauhaus Museum Dessau, Open Stage
The filmmaker Anne Berrini came across the only Argentine student of the Bauhaus, the photographer Horacio Coppola from Buenos Aires, many years ago while doing research. In 1932, Coppola had studied with Walter Peterhans at the Bau haus in Berlin and met the photographer Grete Stern. They fell in love, married and left for Argentina in 1935 since Grete was Jewish. Here, the two Bauhauslers made a decisive contribution to modern photography. Grete Stern never re turned to Germany. In her film From the Bauhaus to Argentina, Anne Berrini retraces the journey of the Bauhaus photographers Grete Stern and Horacio Coppola from Germany to Argentina and New York. The filmmaker will be present for the film screening and discussion.
