Google Arts & Culture: Bauhaus Everywhere – Traces of a design school in our everyday lives

The online exhibition Bauhaus Everywhere – Traces of a design school in our everyday lives by Google Arts & Culture and the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation shows how the Bauhaus influences architecture, design and our everyday lives still today – and, at the same time, makes important objects accessible for international Bauhaus
research.

With Bauhaus Everywhere – Traces of a design school in our everyday lives, 10,000 digitised objects can be researched, the Bauhaus Building in Dessau explored in Virtual Reality (VR) and three never realized Bauhaus buildings – the Round House by Carl Fieger, the residential project BAMBOS by Marcel Breuer, and the Courtyard House by Eduard Ludwig – discovered from the inside and from the outside using Augmented Reality (AR). In addition, Bauhaus experts of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation and other partners worldwide have curated 45 online exhibitions on the student life at the Bauhaus, on international Bauhaus connections to Japan, India or Brazil, on the women at the Bauhaus or on the design icons.

The project is a great benefit for the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation. Its collection comprises about 50,000 objects, most of which are kept protected in the Bauhaus Archive with limited public access for conservational reasons. A total of 14,600 objects have now been digitised in accordance with the latest international standards.
