The opening of the Bauhaus Museum Dessau on 8 September 2019 was one of the highlights of the centenary. For the very first time the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation’s unique collection will be displayed in a comprehensive way and at the same time the museum will be established as location for contemporary positions that also connects the Bauhaus Buildings.

Open Stage in the Bauhaus Museum Dessau

Interactive installations, talks, film presentations, discussions, dance, theatre and performance projects will be developed on the Open Stage.

Bauhaus Museum Dessau

The Bauhaus Museum Dessau is being built for the centenary of the founding of the Bauhaus and will open in 2019, the centenary year. 

The construction of the Bauhaus Museum Dessau is supported by the Federal Commissioner for Culture and the Media, according to a decision of the German Bundestag and by the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The 28 million euros in construction costs will be borne equally by the federal government and the state. The property is provided by the city of Dessau-Roßlau. The builder-owner is the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation.
