In the preliminary courses of Josef Albers, Moholy-Nagy and Johannes Itten, particular importance was attached to touch – in their tactile experiments the hand functions as a medium of recognition, exploration and experience. Against the background of the current prohibition of contact, the circus ensemble Atemzug e.V. creates body installations that explore the dichotomy between the longing for touch and the fear of infection, uncontrollable closeness and modern loneliness, the ability to touch oneself and incorporeality.

Bad Science

On the path of their own version of a performative work of art, The Optimists blur the boundaries between experimental music, circus, object theatre, installations and video art. Their process is based on a curiosity for the unique material quality such as form, texture and colour of objects. An open exploration of materiality leads to the discovery of worlds of sound, physical movement and imagery.
