Bauhaus Building
In the framework of the interactive tour, the pupils experience key places in the Bauhaus Building. Working in teams or pairs, through their own research they learn about design, modern architecture, building materials, colour design and multi-functionality. Activity sheets encourage variously creative and playful approaches to the modern ideas of the Bauhaus, as well as independent discovery and invention.
Masters’ Houses
In the tour, the pupils’ everyday realities are connected to the architecture and design of the Masters’ Houses. What was the concept? What do young people make of the buildings? Activity sheets appeal to the different senses and enable pupils working in teams or pairs to explore construction methods and interior design, colour schemes and the effect of light. The focus at various stations of the tour will be on questions of design for living and the lives of various masters in the houses, as well as on concepts for ideal living cultures, and the organisation of the modern household.
Bauhaus Museum Dessau
In the hands-on and experience-orientated tour the pupils engage with key objects from the collection. There are research projects and tricky problems to solve. Working in teams or pairs, the pupils create “Object fact sheets” that are presented in front of the other groups at the end of the tour.

The “Stäbetanz” (Stick dance) was created by Oskar Schlemmer in the framework of his lessons in the stage workshop. It is one of the Bauhaus Dances – short scenes exploring experimental combinations of movements through the body-space field of tension. Specific materials, and the way in which these affect the movements of the performers, play a pivotal role. Inspired by historic photographs of the “Stäbetanz”, we use sticks to investigate the relationship between the person and the space, and the elementary in the overall composition of space and time. A game situation serves as a starting point to invent own gestures and, from there, to develop a short sequence of movements.
