Stagelab and Festival: play bauhaus
23rd Nov to 7th Dec, 2015 – Stagelab: “dancing the py house”
Nowhere at the Bauhaus was the work as experimental and collective as in the theatre workshop. The central theme, time and again, was the relationship between man and space – as was the case in the fragment “Haus Py oder das Sternenheim” (House Py or the Star’s Home) by Oskar Schlemmer, Heinz Loew and students (1927). The dance project “play bauhaus”, in which designers not only develop costumes and props, but – like the students of the theatre workshop once did – also dance themselves, was established in 2011 and has been dealing since 2015 with the fragment in a Stagelab project, bringing the “py house” back to the Bauhaus Stage as a model for collective and performative spatial design. The participants of the Stagelab, students of the Paju Typography Institute (PaTI) in Seoul, the Senac University Centre in São Paulo and the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, will present the results of their dance explorations as part of the three-day festival programme: “play bauhaus: spatial communities – communal spaces” on the Bauhaus Stage. Other participants in the festival include Kat Frankie, Berlin (a costumed dance concert) and the philharmonic orchestra of the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau (a spatial concert).
